Dear Friends of Fells Point Corner Theatre,
First and foremost, we sincerely hope that you are safe and well. Although we cannot share theatre with you at this time, we are still here, and that is due to the generosity that you have shown us. Your contributions, along with emergency funding from the Maryland State Arts Council, have sustained us for now in these most challenging of times. Thank you for your continued faith and support. FPCT is using this time to build a strategic plan for our next great chapter. You might know that last year saw entirely new leadership on our Board. We made a commitment to sustainable long term operational practices, a deeper investment in and service to our community, and an invigorated pursuit of ambitious, original, and artistically engaging work. Although the theatre is dark, we continue to focus on that promise as we build a roadmap to carry us through this time, and hopefully, into the future. Ensuring that our organization is diverse, equitable and just will be a cornerstone priority of our new plan.
WHAT DOES MEMBERSHIP LOOK LIKE AT FPCT?
· Members make up the core of our theatre family. They staff committees that design our programming, volunteer for theatre events and productions, and elect our Board and Staff. They must approve our most important decisions.
· Members are asked to participate in (currently virtual) monthly meetings where every facet of our operation is discussed. From the art we produce, to our policies and practices, to the concessions we offer in the lobby, everything is discussed with radical transparency.
· Anyone who cares about FPCT can become a member. You don’t have to have special skills, or be an artist, or want to perform. You don’t even need to be invited, but we are inviting you now!
· Members pay modest yearly dues, which includes highly discounted season tickets. Because this season is so uncertain, membership dues for this year will only be $25, and will still provide admission to any shows we produce! Members are usually responsible for a minimum number of volunteer hours, which will also be significantly reduced this year.
If you ever wanted to play a role in shaping a thriving arts community, we would love for you to join us. Of course your feedback is always welcome, even if you aren’t interested in becoming a member. You can share your thoughts with us anytime at support@fpct.org. It would make us happiest, however, to have you in the room where it happens. Please consider joining us. Wishing you good health, and hoping to see you again soon, Board of Directors Fells Point Corner Theatre
