Come to auditions!
Fells Point Corner Theater is pleased to announce auditions for the upcoming production of FOUR BY CHEKHOV – an evening of Chekhov’s most well-loved vaudevilles, namely
The Bear, The Marriage Proposal, Reluctant Tragic Hero, and The Dangers of Tobacco
Howard Berkowitz will direct.
Auditions will take place at Fells Point Corner Theater
Audition days and times are:
Tuesday, October 29, 7:00 – 9:00 pm
Wednesday, October 30, 7:00 – 9:00pm
Saturday, November 2, 10:00 – 12:00 noon
All roles are non-Equity, non-paying.
Actors should prepare a 2-minute monologue and should be ready to read from the script.
This production will open Friday, March 7, 2014 and will run through Sunday, April 6 Fridays/Saturdays at 8:00pm; Sundays at 2:00pm. There will be two Thursday shows --March 20 & 27 (17 performances in all)
Rehearsals are scheduled to begin on Monday, January 6 and will be held weeknights, Monday through Thursday and possibly Saturday during the day, depending on schedules. Because of the nature of the plays, every actor will not be needed for every rehearsal.
The show is cast for 5 men and 4 women --with some gender flexibility. The men should range in age from 30 – 60; the women from 25 – 45.
Male characters are:
Smirnov – a young landowner (and suitor)
Chubukov – a older landowner (with an unmarried daughter)
Lomov – a neighbor of Chubukov, and suitor to Natalia
Nyukhin – husband of a wife who runs a music/boarding school for young ladies
Tolkachov, a family man
Female characters are:
Yelena Ivanovna Popova – a widow with beauty and a large estate
Natalia Stepanovna – a landowner’s daughter and anxious to be married
Luka – a servant to Popova
Alexandra Alexeyivich Murashkina – Tolkachov’s friend
