IMPROV FOR KIDS (AGES 10 - 13)
Service Description
A friendly, non-competitive ensemble will learning and perform the fundamentals of improvisation. We will guide the students through the keys to successful short and long-form exercises and activities. Students will create their own improv troupe and on the final day of the class, perform an improv show for parents and friends. Besides being so much fun, improv is the foundation for performance! Improv enhances confidence, adaptability, listening skills, communication, and character development. FPCT IMPROV FOR KIDS Saturdays February 15 - March 22 12:30pm - 1:30pm Teachers: Marianne Angelella, Larry Malkus Marianne Gazzola Angelella is a creative drama and theatre teacher with over 25 years experience. Marianne currently teaches drama at the amazing Baltimore Lab School where she is also an arts integration specialist. She is MSDE certified, K-12, in special education and theatre - and a graduate of Young Audiences of Maryland Teaching Artist Institute. Prior to working at Lab School, Marianne was a freelance teaching artist teaching creative drama, play production, play writing, and more for Spotlighters Theatre, Everyman Theatre, InterAct Story Theatre, Baltimore Shakespeare Festival, Childrens’ Theatre Association, Pumpkin Theatre, and more. Fells Point Corner Theatre is her home both as an actor and a teacher. FPCT is where she took her first acting workshop and was guided to teach by her beloved mentors, Beverly Sokal and Marley Willard. In addition to Bev and Marley, Marianne is inspired by Viola Spolin, Isabel Burger, Bruce Nelson, and all the teachers she has ever had the honor to join in the classroom. She is a proud member of Actors Equity Association representing actors and stage managers nationwide. Larry Malkus has been teaching Improvisational Acting (Short and Long Form) and Sketch Comedy Writing since 1990. He received his B.F.A. from Brooklyn College, C.U.N.Y. in 1989 and has been active in Baltimore's theater community ever since. Larry is also an experienced stage combat (hand-to-hand, fencing) teacher and choreographer. He currently teaches at Baltimore's Gilman School.
