Shana Uzali lives in a state of constant turmoil and instability, but she refuses to move. In a fantastical world she has created, Shana is visited by a number of characters, each one attempting to budge her from a place of indecision and fear. As these characters appear and reappear, questions of good and evil, hope and despair, faith and disbelief circle around Shana’s mind. Will Shana find the answers she desperately needs? Will she be persuaded to action?
Shana Unsettled is co-directed by Jim Knipple and Janel Miley. Jim Knipple is the founding Artistic Director of the Run of the Mill Theater Co. in Baltimore. Other Baltimore/DC credits include plays at Artscape, Spotlighters, Vagabond Theater, Silver Spring Stage, and the Young Playwrights Festival at CENTERSTAGE. He holds an MFA in directing from UC Irvine where he co-founded and directed in World Premiere Weekend, a new play festival that premiered plays by Neil LaBute, Brooke Berman, Charles Mee, among others. Janel Miley has acted locally in DC/Baltimore theaters, in addition to LA and New York companies. Local credits include Shakespeare Theatre Company, Folger Theatre, CENTERSTAGE, Silver Spring Stage, Spotlighters, FPCT. Janel has acted and trained at Shakespeare & Company in Lenox, Massachusetts and has taught and directed in their Education program.
Ronda Cooperstein is a librarian, writer, and lifelong human and animal rights activist. She currently works for Maryland's prison library program and volunteers with animal welfare and Middle East peace organizations in her spare time.
