Set near Baltimore, Bloodlines follows the plight of a young college student, Sarah Friedman, home for spring break to celebrate Passover. Sarah’s definition of herself is called into question as family secrets and long-held grudges are revealed. Her father’s absence, the addition of her boyfriend over the holiday and her grandmother’s illness intensify the unraveling of Sarah’s previous sense of self identity, security and family harmony.

Daniel Baum is the founder of the Annapolis-based writer’s group, the Four Seasons Playwright’s Circle. A veteran of the former Washington New Play Festival, his work has also been performed at the Church Street Theatre in Washington. He has been a house manager at Arena Stage, a dramaturg for the Washington Shakespeare Company and a script reader/evaluator for numerous area theatres. Bloodlines received a series of readings as part of the Baltimore Playwright’s Festival. This is its first full production.
