FPCT Spotlight - June 17, 2011
Karin Rosnizeck
How did you get involved in The Sculptress?
Karin: A woman named Gillian Drake recommended me for the reading. Having been fascinated with the life of Camille Claudel for 20 years, having read all existing biographies of Camille, and having seen her and Rodin's work in Paris, this part was a rare and golden opportunity for me as an actress.
What are your thoughts on The Sculptress from an actor's point of view?
Karin: The role of Camille offers a wide range of very intense and sudden, fast changing emotions. It allows for the utmost expressivity and vulnerability but also demands a thin line of balance.
What has it been like working with Juliana Avery, the director?
Karin: Juliana is quick and effective in the rehearsal process. She has a good shit-detector and is LOTS of fun!!
Do you have any favorite roles you've played in the past?
Karin: Countess Geschwitz in Frank Wedekind's Lulu and the title role in Tennessee William's The Gnaediges Fraeulein.
What is your dream role and what are your favorite plays?
Karin: My dream roles would be "Martha" in Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf and the title role in Hedda Gabler. My favorite plays are absurd theatre, tragi-comedies and witty plays (Pinter, Wilde, Stoppard et al.).
What advice would you give aspiring actors?
Karin: Respect your work and keep working.
What is the craziest thing you have ever had to do on stage?
Karin: I had to catch a fish in my jaw (not using my hands, but my teeth only).
.
What is on the horizon?
Karin: I will be playing the Nurse/Mrs Winsley in Stop Kiss directed by Holly Twyford, in the fall at No Rules Theatre Company.
