Top 10 Things to know about me...
- Despite my Clark Kent hair cut and Connecticut insurance salesman demeanor, I’m no Ned Flanders, oka-lee-doke-alee?
- I’m a huge fan of The Venture Brothers (have all four seasons on DVD) and have been a racehorse handicapper since I was 12 (have appeared two years running on FOX 45’s morning show with my Preakness picks).
- I’ve been featured in both The Baltimore Sun and Style Magazine for my fashion tastes.
- I have been a competitive fencer since 1986, holding rankings in foil, saber and epee, and I helped found the Chesapeake Fencing Club (www.chesapeakefencing.com) in Baltimore City. Great club, we hold two fundraisers every year, the Megabout and the Fenceathon (www.fenceathon.com), which help raise money for the Sisters Academy of Baltimore.
- I wrote features and theater reviews for the Baltimore Examiner and when the paper closed in 2009, began covering local theater for BROADWAYWORLD.com.
- Acting wise, I did extra work in the late 1990's for NBC’s Homicide:Life in the Streets and in the motion picture, Enemy of the State.
- In 2005, I served as editor, publisher and publicist for my 80something father’s first book of poetry, Psalm of a City, Saratoga and Other Poems.
- My daily gig is head of media relations for Mercy Medical Center. Ever watch “The Woman’s Doctor” on Channel 11 with Donna Hamilton? That’s me. I’ve known Donna now for 15 years and she’s among the best media professionals with whom I’ve ever worked.
- Since 2007, I’ve served on the adjunct faculty of Loyola University in Baltimore where I teach an undergraduate introductory public relations course. I’m also the Baltimore Public Relations blogger for examiner.com.
- Final odd tidbit? Back in the 80s, I was briefly a member of the England-based club, Six of One, “The Prisoner Appreciation Society,” which was a fan club of the old “The Prisoner” 60’s TV-series starring Patrick McGoohan.
